Weighted grade calculator
What is my weighted grade?
Grade weight calculator: enter each category score and its syllabus weight to get a weighted course grade.
Weighted grade from syllabus weights
How the weighted grade calculator works
This weighted grade calculator multiplies each score by its category weight, then divides by the total weight. Use it when you are calculating grades by weight and homework, quizzes, and exams count different amounts. It is not an equal-weight class average and not a GPA calculator.
How to use the calculator
- Add a row for each syllabus category.
- Enter the score you have in that category.
- Enter the weight as a percent.
- Calculate. Weights do not have to add to 100, but 100 is typical.
Worked example
Homework 90 at 20%, quizzes 80 at 30%, and exams 70 at 50% gives (90 × 20 + 80 × 30 + 70 × 50) ÷ 100 = 77.00.
Understanding your result
If weights add to something other than 100, the tool still uses the weights you entered. For equal-weight test scores use the grade average calculator. For course GPA points use the GPA calculator.
