How the AP score calculator works
This unofficial AP exam score predictor blends multiple choice and free response percents into a 1 to 5 estimate. Subject labels do not change the method. Cutoffs change by year, and this is not a College Board report.
How to use the calculator
- Pick a subject. The estimate uses the same method for each.
- Enter multiple choice percent and free response percent.
- Read a 1 to 5 estimate. Cutoffs change by year.
- Use the SAT calculator if you need a 400 to 1600 total instead.
Worked example
If multiple choice is 80 percent and free response is 70 percent, the blended estimate is 75 percent, which this tool maps to a 1 to 5 band.
