Monthly study loan payment

How the study loan calculator works

This study loan repayment calculator uses the standard EMI formula: monthly rate from the annual interest, then payment from principal, rate, and months. Optional extra payments show a faster payoff. It is not tuition, not work-study aid, and not an official lender quote.

How to use the calculator

  1. Enter the loan amount you will borrow.
  2. Enter the annual interest rate as a percent.
  3. Enter the term in years.
  4. Add extra monthly payment only if you plan to pay more than the EMI.

Worked example

A 20000 loan at 8% for 10 years is about 242.66 a month, 29119 paid, and 9119 interest. Extra 50 a month shortens the term and cuts interest.

Understanding your result

Use this to compare borrowing against the study abroad or credit hour cost estimates. Lender fees, capitalization, and income-driven plans are not included.

Frequently asked questions

No. It is a generic EMI estimate from the numbers you enter. Use your lender or tax office tool for official figures.

For a fixed rate, payment is principal times monthly rate times (1+r)^n, divided by (1+r)^n minus 1. Zero interest divides principal by months.

No. Credit hour cost estimates tuition. This page estimates how a loan of that size would repay.

The scheduled EMI stays the same. Extra payment reduces principal faster, so you finish in fewer months and pay less interest.

You can enter that loan amount, rate, and term. The result is still a generic EMI, not an official SBI, FNB, or Maybank quote.
